This is achieved through rigorous assessment of providers against SSAIB’s scheme criteria and maintained by regular and ongoing audit of management systems and inspection of installation. We participate in the development of standards and regulations to ensure that they are current and workable, whilst also maintaining close liaison with the Police, Fire Services and Insurance industry to ensure ongoing support for our activities.

Founded in 1994, SSAIB is a not-for-profit organisation, setup as a company limited by guarantee, with a Governing Board representing a wide range of industry stakeholders. In addition to representation from the Police (ACPO and ACPO Scotland), Fire Services and Insurers, the Board comprises representatives of various government departments, trade associations, professional bodies, practitioners and relevant consumer organisations.
SSAIB has wide UKAS accreditation, which means that our approach is subject to independent scrutiny and validation against international standards.
